Memahami Metode STAR

Metode STAR merupakan teknik wawancara yang memberikan kandidat kesempatan untuk menceritakan sebuah pengalaman atau pencapaian kerja dengan menjelaskan situasi (situation), tugas (task), tindakan (action), dan hasil (result). Dengan cara ini, pewawancara mudah memahami kinerja kandidat.

Penjelasan metode STAR yaitu:

  • Situation: menentukan latar belakang dan memberikan rincian terhadap suatu hal (pengalaman atau keterampilan kerja)
  • Task: menjelaskan peran dan tugas yang diemban pada pekerjaan sebelumnya
  • Action: menguraikan tindakan atau langkah yang diambil untuk menyelesaikan tugas
  • Result: menerangkan hasil dari tindakan yang dilakukan

2. Tell us about a time you made a mistake at work. How did you fix it?

While working at Pizza Time’s Restaurant, I received an order from a customer who had a peanut allergy. I failed to inform the kitchen staff about her allergy and the dish was served with peanuts. Fortunately, the customer spotted the peanuts before eating. I apologized sincerely, offered a replacement meal free of charge and provided a coupon as a goodwill gesture. She appreciated the response and I learned the importance of careful listening and double-checking details, especially regarding customer health and safety.”

3. Describe a time when you failed at a task. What did you learn?
